Thursday Rides
A shorter, sociable evening spin leaving Countess Wear at 5:30pm — back before dark, ends at the pub.
The Thursday ride
The Thursday ride is the social heartbeat of the club. We leave Countess Wear Beefeater at 5:30pm every Thursday evening and do a quick 15–25 mile spin through the Exe Valley or along the coast path lanes.
It’s shorter, more relaxed than Sunday, and always ends at a pub. Pace is conversational — 12–15 mph — and the route is flat-to-rolling. It’s a great entry point if Sunday feels a bit daunting.
Who comes
All abilities. Plenty of members use Thursday as their first BG&E ride before committing to a Sunday. You’ll see a mix of road bikes, commuter bikes, and the occasional gravel rig. No one cares.
The pub
We end at a different pub most weeks, usually within a mile of the start point. Sometimes it’s the Bridge Inn. Sometimes the Turf. Sometimes somewhere further out if we fancy a longer route. Details are posted on Facebook each week.
